Plant Identification Training for Friends Group Members
Saturday 10th October 2-4pm Heathfield Creek Reserve Belvedere Drive Montrose (Mel ref 52 F7) Presented by Dr Graeme Lorimer (Director and Environmental Scientist Biosphere Pty Ltd) Learn to Identify: · Plants that most commonly cause volunteers difficulty, e.g. indigenous Oxalis versus introduced Oxalis. · The rarest plants in your patch, where they are and how to look after them Also: · Improve your plant ID skills · Build skills in how to inspect a plant for identification purposes · And be given a list of resources such as books and websites that can help. If possible bring: · A magnifying glass (e.g. a ×10 hand lens) · A digital camera with a macro setting. · For those who want to take away specimens for future reference, bring a plastic bag, some paper (to write labels on) and some sticky tape. · Sturdy shoes, wet weather gear, sun hat and water to drink.
