Feed-in-tariffs have proven immensely successful in Germany which has much less solar energy than we do even out here in Yarra Ranges (except in the heavily forested areas). It is more cost effective than the current rebate scheme, provided the tariff is based on a gross rather than net amount of energy produced and is set at a level that allows for the owner to see the device pay for itself in energy bills forgone over a period of about 10 years.
It doesn't make sense not to support a scheme that has so many benefits.

UYDEC will continue to advocate for the State Government to turn around their weak decision to implement a net tariff with a low rate. And for the federal government to implement a national scheme.

If we are serious about renewable energy as an answer to climate change then we must make it affordable for people to invest in - a gross feed-in tariff is a proven means to do this.
